Psalm 39:4-5

Show me, Lord, my life’s end and the number of my days; let me know how fleeting my life is. You have made my days a mere handbreadth; the span of my years is as nothing before you. Everyone is but a breath, even those who seem secure.

So, today, I’m in Psalm 39. And the idea of how our hope is in the Lord is what I get from this. We read verses four to seven here quickly. Show me, Lord, my life's end and the number of my days. Let me know how fleeting my life is. You have made my days a mere handbreadth.

The span of my years is as nothing before you. Everyone is but a breath. Even those who seem secure. Surely everyone goes around like a mere phantom. In vain, they rush about heaping up wealth without knowing whose it will finally be. But now, Lord, what do I look for? My hope is in you, and there's no question.

I think that having a very healthy sense of perspective of who we are, who God is, and the bigger story going on around us and making sure that we continue to put our hope in the Lord when the crisis comes is so important. So Psalm 39 is very true to me today.
